27-28 Aries/Cancer/Libra/Capricorn cross

  • Aries: A Large Disappointed Audience.
  • Cancer: A Modern Pocahontas.
  • Libra: A Man In The Midst Of Brightening Influences.

  • Capricorn: A Large Aviary.

Ronda Rousey illustrates this cross.

If you read about her trip to the Standing Rock protests in North Dakota, you'll find certain parts of the story resonate with these symbols:

Aries' disappointed audience are the protestors (who, on 24th of January 2017—the day of Ronda's supportive visit—learned that President Trump signed orders to advance the pipeline despite their protests)

Capricorn's large aviary is the cage of Native American and colonialist politics, loud with the chatter of voice and opinion, where ‘birds of the same feather flock together’.

Cancer's modern Pocahontas is represented by either the friendship between Ronda and Linda Black Elk (based on their Twitter photo) or current Native American politics and culture

Libra's Brightening Influences are represented by the highly appreciated moral support Ronda brought to the cause and the effect her new friends have had on her.

For Ronda personally, who felt she had disappointed her fans with her loss to Nunes in December 2016, Aries’ symbol reflects a chapter of her hero journey encouraging her to move on from UFC.  Further, UFC fans accused her of white privilege due to the disparate amounts herself and Nunes were paid for the fight.  Capricorn’s aviary represents the cage of UFC that defined Ronda's career. Ronda is the first female UFC champion and credited for breaking down many barriers for female mixed martial arts sports, becoming one of the defining athletes of the 21st century.

Cancer's modern Pocahontas event of Standing Rock support brought attention to Ronda's generally unadvertised charitable efforts (https://sports.yahoo.com/news/ronda-rousey-stands-up-for-standing-rock-after-president-donald-trumps-pipeline-approval-054041021.html) and differed from other celebrity support in that she offered to literally stand together with protestors to get pepper-sprayed in the face (wow, what a warrior)! The support she gave and received (Libra) at Standing Rock helped her to heal from her fresh loss in UFC and transition away from the UFC cage toward other interests.  She is a ground-breaking warrior, which is the spirit she shares with the original Pocahontas, that is, a brightening influence.

In terms of the bigger energetic picture, Capricorn’s aviary is the structure within which Aries' groups can become disappointed and see what is NOT working, and move toward Cancer’s Modern Pocahontas as a solution: trying to embrace new members and what they bring, while aware of who oneself is and their own background; a form of comparison and synthesis. Libra’s brightening influences could represent positive and creative solutions towards changing the structure of the aviary (including the ‘pecking order’).

The shadow side of this cross is that a few (Cancer, Libra) carry the burden of expectations from society (Capricorn, Aries).
