For your information, a flapper was a type of 'modern' "young Western woman in the 1920s who wore short skirts, bobbed their hair, listened to jazz, and flaunted their disdain for what was then considered acceptable behavior. Flappers were seen as brash for wearing excessive makeup, drinking, treating sex in a casual manner, smoking, driving automobiles, and otherwise flouting social and sexual norms. Flappers had their origins in the liberal period of the Roaring Twenties, the social, political turbulence and increased transatlantic cultural exchange that followed the end of World War I, as well as the export of American jazz culture to Europe." (Wikipedia.com: Flapper)

So you can see the 'clash' of sensibilities between a flapper and an 'old-fashioned' woman!

Moon in Leo 6
by: Isabella Fiske McFarlin

This is my Moon degree. My Sun is in 20 Leo, and Pluto is at 18 Leo. The moon stands a little apart from the passionate and powerful grappline conjunction of the Sun and Pluto-- the Life-purpose working with or struggling with the great obsession/transcendence creator. The moon degre has also been called An Old-Fashioned Woman and an Up-to-Date Girl. (( believe that is what Dr. Jones calls it in Sabian Symbols). In my life it has been graphically and rather humorously played out. I grew uo as the child of very rebellious Bohemians who did not believe in sending a child to school where they might be beaten and oppressed. We traveled to stay out of the clutches of the law. We hid in plain sight across thousands of miles of American highways. When I reached my teens and could "pass" for an older kid, we opened a gallery on the East "Village" in New YOrk City. My father, a writer and thinker, gave talks there. and we all drew many young hip people to Vermont where we lived, 0r they came of their own volition. I became a kind of symbol of the free, untrammelled hippie girl. But I also had a kind of reserve and a love of old-fashioned things and sometimes the messiness and sometimes craziness of our lives upset me. I loved the freedom of it all, I had multiple lovers, and yet on some level I was "an old-fashioned woman."
I'm finishing a memoir about all this. It's been a very interesting and 0ften fulfilling life. The two images have been very clear to me ever since I started doing serious astrological studies in my early 20s. Anyway, there it is. This moon, by the way, is in my 10th house with my Uranus in Cancer. I am the unique mom as well. to the world at large!

It Sabian symbol seems so right - but I have to correct my given birth time 20 minutes... Do YOU have any comments to that ???
